Welcome to the Robertson Centre for Biostatistics
The Robertson Centre for Biostatistics is part of the Faculty of Information and Mathematical Sciences and is linked to the Department of Statistics.
The Centre was established to carry out research in biostatistical methodology, to encourage its application to practical problems and to participate in research initiatives addressing major medical and biological issues.
The Centre promotes the use of appropriate statistical methodology through a series of courses and via an advisory centre for the biomedical research community in Glasgow and beyond. Joint research initiatives are actively sought with medical and biological researchers in academia, the pharmaceutical industry, the health service and with other research organisations.
Areas of particular interest include clinical trials, statistical issues in epidemiology, and health economics. Centre staff also have extensive experience in the use of national registries for the identification of death, incident cancers and other adverse events.
The Centre is able to undertake projects ranging from small university research projects to major international multi-centre clinical trials, and has excellent relations with both the pharmaceutical industry and academic clinical research groups.
